Green Baby Expo to Benefit Those Affected by the Humboldt Fire
Green Baby Expo to highlight natural and eco-friendly ways to raise our children
CHICO,
CA. June 19, 2008 – Now more than ever, people are concerned about the
environment and want to find ways to live a greener lifestyle. Parents
want the best for their children and seek out natural, healthy,
organic, and gentle, products and services. A group of Chico businesses
owners and concerned citizens got together to create the Green Baby
Expo to educate families about all the wonderful green and natural
products and programs available today.
Those working with the Green Baby Expo are mindful of the recent and local Humboldt Fire;
because of this, parking fees and raffle ticket sales will benefit
local families touched by the fire. There will also be donation
stations throughout the Expo. Monies collected will go to the Paradise Community Foundation that is set up to work with these families.
The one
day event will be held from 10am-5pm on Saturday, June 21st at the
Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico. There will be many vendors from the
North Valley and all over the US exhibiting products and services that
will appeal to all young families as well as everyone who is eco-
minded. There will be entertainment and fun for the whole family with
bounce houses, face painting, and animals. The website
www.GreenBabyExpo.com provides even more information about this great
event.
The cost is only $5 per family and each
family will receive a reusable bag filled with valuable coupons and
goodies. Attendees will also be entered into drawings for thousands of
dollars worth of prizes.
After having her baby boy, Cyndi
Pereira of Chico, founded www.BabiesinChico.com a website that supports
attachment parenting, breastfeeding, babywearing, gentle birth choices
and environmental responsibility. “Many parents were excited to see
products and information that fit their lifestyle and many more were
excited to learn about attachment parenting and green life with a baby-
very new ideas to some people. The Green Baby Expo was born as a way to
share these ideals with more families,” says Pereira.
Local
homeschooling mom and Green Baby Expo committee member, Christy Barker
comments, “Having a baby and raising a family can really open your eyes
to the importance of teaching our children to take care of the earth so
that their children can have a better place to live.”
Amy
Evans, owner of Baby’s Boutique and expo committee member says, “I am
committed to helping parents find practical methods to raise their
families green minded. Small actions of many will have substantial
impacts. The future our children inherit can be our greatest gift."
By
focusing on babies, the expo will help families get off to a greener
start and at the same time provide valuable insights to parents about
raising children of all ages. "Everyone's welcome, Bring the whole
family! Let’s grow together as we create a better world for us all.”
Says Peter Melton, green activist and expo committee member.
